The Mother Church Offers a New Vision to the Archdiocese of America

The Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, wanting to strengthen the role of the largest Eparchy of the Mother Church with a new vision and a new Charter suitable for the evolving and changing modern pastoral needs of American society, decided to place the current Charter (2003) of the Holy Archdiocese of America into abeyance.

Racial Reconciliation: New Interviews & Resources

The Department of Inter-Orthodox, Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America has produced three new episodes of its miniseries “A Conversation on Racial Reconciliation,” with Archdeacon John Chryssavgis. The new interviews aim to contribute to the ongoing conversation, in the Church and across the nation, on racism and offer a resource center.

Archiepiscopal Encyclical: Inaugural National Philoptochos Sunday

His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros has declared this Sunday to be the Inaugural National Philoptochos Sunday, to celebrate the rich legacy of this important organization of our Archdiocese. National Philoptochos Sunday will be celebrated every year to honor the thousands of women throughout our Archdiocese who are a part of this vibrant ministry.

ARCHDIOCESE SENDS $50,000 in Financial Aid to Beirut, Lebanon

Following a devastating explosion in Beirut, Lebanon in August, the Holy Eparchial Synod implored the parishes and monasteries of the Holy Archdiocese to make a special collection in order to assist those Orthodox Churches and faithful that were adversely affected by the blast.

I am delighted to be with you today, on this Sunday of the Fathers of the Seventh Ecumenical Council. This last of the Ecumenical Councils, held in the year 787, was the council that affirmed the dignity, grace, and dogmatic validity of the Holy Icons. And somehow it seems fitting that this last of the Ecumenical Councils took place in Nicaea, where the First Council was convened over four hundred years earlier.

THREE AUXILIARY BISHOPS  Elected at the 

Ecumenical Patriarchate

The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America received with much joy and gratitude the news from the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, that His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew together with the Holy and Sacred Synod accepted the proposal of the Holy Eparchial Synod of our Archdiocese for the election of three Auxiliary Bishops based on the triprosopa sent following the Regulations and Charter of our Archdiocese.

Appointed New Director of the Metropolitan's Office and Religious Education for the Metropolis of Boston

His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios announced the appointment of Cassandra Garibaldi as the new Director of the Metropolitan’s Office and Religious Education effective October 1.
